Wow, here we are in our third year already! It's been an exciting year with many product additions, lovely new labels, and numerous green cleaning presentations. We've changed our logo and look this year but it's still recognizable. I'm happy to say the new labels are much higher quality, but more importantly, they are super fun, colorful and a bit more professional! I'm still blending and creating everything in my home, sometimes with the help of 2 little people running in and out of the kitchen. It's been great to be a small business and have the flexibility that comes with it. I plan to continue selling products at Thursdays on First & 3rd in Rochester, MN, other craft shows in the area, and hopefully a few more stores. Very soon you will also be able to order product directly through the website!

My passion for green cleaning started about 7 years ago. Prior to having our first child I was very interested in lessening the toxic mix of cleaners under our sink and started experimenting with different formulas. I bought a few books and tried out numerous recipes. Better Basics for the Home by Annie Berthold Bond is still one of my favorites. Then I started using essential oils in my concoctions and my cleaning life got so much better! Not only do they smell good but many essential oils are loaded with antibacterial properties. I was so excited about how great these formulas cleaned and how wonderful they could smell, I decided to start Lilly Bud Naturals in 2008.
You may think I'm a clean freak, but I'm not. I do think the act and process of cleaning should be a pleasing or somewhat enjoyable experience, though, because it never ends! I can honestly say that every time I do clean now, I am smiling, happy, and breathe deeper just to get a better whiff of the scent. The best thing is even my kids can help and I don't have to worry about fumes and nasty chemicals getting absorbed into their skin and lungs (or mine).
The ingredients I use follow the "GRAS" principle (Generally Regarded As Safe). They are natural, non-toxic, and readily biodegradable. I don't use solvents, perfumes, or toxic chemicals to make the smell last longer or keep it perfectly blended. These concoctions clean beautifully and you can feel good knowing you're not polluting your home, body, or the environment just to get the soap scum off your shower walls.
We make all the products in our home and the basement shelves are lined with boxes and bottles. It is truly a pleasure to create aromatherapy-minded, wholesome products for your home and body!
